From month to month, things happen in our lives. The past few months have presented complex situations and adversity. Still, we overcome! We overcome because we are greater than situations and adversity.
Last year, I was overcome with chronic back pain. I learned I had several discs in my spine that were out of alignment causing a pinched nerve in my lower back. My initial thought was, "Lord, why? If it isn't one thing, it's another." Eventually, my thinking shifted to, "Lord, I'm grateful that I know this was occurring in my body and can now take the necessary steps to fix it."
It is easy to look at adversity and wallow in it. It is better to look at what you can learn from it. Adversity is not ideal, but it is necessary for our growth. You can't fix what's wrong if you don't know what's wrong in the first place. Since going to therapy for my back, I have more energy. I sleep better. My digestion is better. Everything is getting back into alignment; thus, my body is operating the way it is supposed to operate.
Being in pain is never ideal. Having to adjust your schedule and life to deal with circumstances is not ideal either. However, it is necessary and essential. When your body is out of alignment, it affects everything. Yes, this is an obvious thing to know. But, in knowing this, we don't always do a good job with caring for our body until adversity sets in and alerts us that something is wrong. My encouragement to you is to care for your body. Be proactive and not reactive with your body. Drink the proper amount of water every day and exercise. Change your diet. One thing you cannot do is outrun a bad diet.
